From a wave point of view, there is seem to be a clear 5-wave already formed from this same top, and therefore a possible ABCD correction might need to occur before the next push down starts. (see picture below)

I doubt the fall below 1530 would occur without some psychological trigger (like Bernanke saying the QE-infinity might need to be stopped earlier than expected).

Totally agree regarding 1530 as an enormous barrier in XAUUSD.
According to my sentiment indicator, the last time the market was so bearish on Gold was during the crisis in 2008-2009, and before that in 1997(!). In addition, if you look at a gold chart from a monthly perspective, you would see a double top.

According to my models, the immediate (3-4 weeks) downside potential is down to 1200.

From all of this, it is worth looking for a short entry on gold and for bullish trades on USD.
Of course, any new fed related easing on top of QE-infinity could again force a rebound in XAUUSD.
