The Eurozone folks can’t devalue their currency like the good old days, so they just take money from people outright. The real effect is the same but it’s more blatant.

Personally I’m skeptical of governments and would be shifting my money overseas, but not everyone has the means to be able to do this at short notice. The rich folks likely do though.

Kuroda-san at the BOJ will giving some speech on Thursday morning JST, so this Cyprus news may actually be presenting us with a good opportunity to sell some yen at better levels, depending on how the other Europeans react over the next few days.

So for that reason I’d prefer to play EUR/USD to EUR/JPY.
