Nice to see AUD/USD > 1.0200 for EUR/AUD. Yesterday, I have waited at 1.2870 on EUR/AUD, and I didn’t open position with the break below 1.0200 on AUD/USD during European session. Later the pair has rebounded sharply.

After the long-held strong barrier break at 1.02, there was almost no follow through. The liquidity remained thin – there was no feverish flickering of the bid/ask on the screen, the spreads didn’t narrow – all signs of low liquidity. This is a sea change from how AUDUSD was earlier, from say 2010 – early 2012. I checked the ATR on my daily chart and it has fallen from about 100 pips in 2011 to about 40-50 today. It’s become a pair simply not worth trading!
